Fruit tree giveaway

Thee City of Miami is having a Fruit Tree Giveaway on Saturday, September 28 from 8:00 am to noon.

The type of trees being given away are mango, avocado, lychee and key lime, the trees are small trees about 2-3 feet high in 3-gallon pots.

Attendees are eligible for two trees per household. Attendees need to have an ID or utility bill for us to verify that they are City of Miami residents.

It's a first come first served basis so the earlier people come the better.

On the day of the event, after address verification, you will go through a couple education checkpoints that teach about proper tree planting and maintenance techniques, then they collect their two trees (any combination they desire).

There is also a pre-registration option, wherein people can complete a pre-registration form. This does not represent reserving trees, but allows the pre-registered to enter a separate line on the day of the event, which will allow you to proceed much quicker (and thus increase your chance of getting the trees you want before they run out) than those in the line for on-site registration who have to complete forms and have their addresses checked.

Location is Elizabeth Virrick Park (3255 Plaza Street) is the location.

If you should need more information or to get a pre-registration form, please contact astewart@miamigov.com 305-960-5192.
